Licensing and the beta

The open beta

Guidepost is in open beta and free to use, with every feature, through December 31, 2026. A Beta badge appears in the title bar.

In the last week of the beta, a banner reminds you when it ends.
From January 1 to January 7, 2027, everything keeps working, and Guidepost reminds you each time it opens.
From January 8, 2027, editing, saving and the Library keep working without a license. Going live, the Stage Display, network viewers and the countdown need a license.

License changes take effect after you end live, so they won’t interrupt a service.

Buy a license

A Standard license covers two Macs and is a one-time purchase. Click Buy a license in Settings › License & About, or visit the pricing page. Your license key arrives by email.

Activate a license

Open Settings › License & About, or click the badge in the title bar.
Click Enter license key.
Paste the key from your purchase email and click Activate.

Activation needs an internet connection once. After that, Guidepost works offline indefinitely. It checks the license now and then when you’re online. If it hasn’t been able to check for a long time, a reminder appears. You can still run services.

If activation doesn’t work

Guidepost explains what went wrong and what to do:

That isn’t a Guidepost license key: check that you copied the whole key from the email.
All 2 computers on this license are in use: deactivate Guidepost on one of the other Macs first (see below), or contact support.
Guidepost can’t reach the license server: check the internet connection and try again.

Check your license

Settings › License & About shows your license status, how many of its computers are in use, the last four characters of the key, and when it was last checked. Click Refresh license to check it now.

Move a license to another Mac

On the Mac you no longer use for Guidepost, open Settings › License & About and click Deactivate this computer…. Confirm Deactivate.
On the new Mac, activate the license with your key.

If the old Mac isn’t available any more, contact support.
